Liberty and Justice
All Americans, including undocumented immigrants, should freely experience the values of liberty and freedom, without the threat of persecution. Unfortunately, immigration reform is still an ambitious goal because several reform bills have failed to pass the House and Senate. In addition, gridlock between Republicans and Democrats makes any current immigration reform effort even more unlikely to pass. Nevertheless, immigration reform is needed to solve our broken immigration system because the United States has a border security system that lacks efficiency and strong oversight, 11 million undocumented immigrants that lack many legal rights, and a visa system that discourages and constrains the number of low-skilled and high-skilled workers coming to, and living, in the US, that would otherwise contribute to American innovation and productivity.
