Conservation Treatment: The drawing was surface cleaned to reduce fingerprints and some distracting smudges of media. The drawing was removed from the mount by releasing the “dry mount” tissue with heat. Removal of the mount revealed additional spots of glue around the back perimeter, including in 2 areas on the annotation. The adhesives were removed with heat and with organic solvents. The annotation remains clearly legible and was only locally affected when the glue was originally applied. Removal of the mount did not reveal the source of distortions around the paper perimeter. The paper was humidified and flattened to the extent possible, although some distortions around the perimeter can be seen, especially in raking light. The mount was returned.
