Current Condition of Artwork:

Random minor accretions. Minor to moderate surface grime along bottom edge. Abrasions and skinning along edges. Surface losses in support across bottom edge. Paint losses overall, moderate to severe along bottom edge. Delamination and planar distortions along edges, especially bottom. Liquid stains across bottom edge of recto and verso. Cracking and flaking of figure in upper right corner and along bottom edge. Bleeding and burning where the recto is stained.

Conservation Treatment Proposed:

  • Consolidate flaking paint.
  • Readhere delaminating support layers.
  • Reduce attachments verso (optional).
  • Reduce accretions (optional).
