Gift of Dr. Alvin O. Bellak

Current Condition of Artwork:

Two large thick white paper patches over seam and fractures of verso; linen tape hinges in upper left and right corners of verso. Adhesive residue with attachments. Support is extremely brittle. Random minor accretions and abrasions/skinning to support. Minor surface grime with a fingerprint in lower right corner of support. Insect losses to top right and left of support. Slight darkening overall to support. Losses to bottom edge, bottom right corner, center left edge, upper left corner, top left and right edges, and upper right corner of support. Image losses with support losses. Planar distortions to support due to uneven restraint of patches. Support tears/fractures to left corner; network of fractures in back corner, patched; open tear in lower right corner.

Conservation Treatment Proposed:

  • Consider reducing patches, bathing or relaxing support and mending or lining overall.

Estimated Cost of Treatment:      $500.00
