Current Condition of Artwork:

Pressure sensitive tapes and paper tapes on verso edges. Adhesive residue with tapes and on verso bottom edge. Accretions to blue paint on surface in bottom left corner and minor transfer elsewhere. Support losses where corners are rounded. Minor skinning/abrasions overall and in left corner of verso edge. Minor surface grime. Minor insect damage. Stains in bottom left corner with a visible tide line on verso. Random moderate losses throughout. Moderate to extensive cracking throughout. Random minor active flaking. Silver paint in powdery and granular.

Conservation Treatment Proposed:

  • Consolidate flaking paint.
  • Reduce pressure sensitive tapes and adhesive mechanically.
  • Reduce accreted paint from recto surfaces (optional).
  • Reduce attacments on verso (optional).
