Current Condition of Artwork:

Paper tape on upper left edge of recto; glassine tape on top edge of verso; pressure sensitive tapes in top and bottom corners of verso. Adhesive residue with attachments. Random minor accretions. Minor abrasions/skinning along support edges. Minor surface grime. Paint losses and cracking in whites and silvers. Very fragile in white foreground and silver motifs. Mottled ink possible in border striping with corrosive ink/pigment overall on verso. Silver paint is granular. Accretions to image across top edge with random minor accretions elsewhere.

Conservation Treatment Proposed:

  • Consolidate flaking paint.
  • Reduce accretions (optional).
  • Reduce verso attachments (optional).
