Current Condition of Artwork:

Pressure sensitive tape and paper tape on verso and side hinges. Random minor accretions. Losses to upper left and bottom left corners of support. Minor surface grime. Abrasions/skinning along support edges. Tears/fractures along bottom corner edge. Minor delamination along support edges. Moderate paint losses in border, minor losses elsewhere. Cracking to Krishna's face and minor cracking eleswhere. Cleavage/flaking to borders, silver table, upper left gray, and Krishna's face. Silver is friable/powdery. Minor stains along left border.

Conservation Treatment Proposed:

  • Consolidate flaking paint.
  • Reduce pressure sensitive tape and adhesive mechanically.
  • Mend tear at bottom corner and readhere delaminating support layers.
  • Reduce accretions (optional).
  • Fill losses (optional).
