Current Condition of Artwork:

Masking tape along top and side edges of verso. Waxy residue along tear in top corner of recto. Paper adhesive residues along top edge of verso. Random minor accretions. Minor surface grime. Support losses to rounded corners and along tear in top corner. Abrasions/skinning along tear in top corner. Random minor insect damage. Crudely repaired tear in top corner. Delamination along edges. Paint losses to pink border, randomly in whites, and along the tear in the top corner and the top right of the sky. Cracking and cleavage/flaking in pink border, white belts, and randomly elsewhere. Abrasions/burning along tear in top corner. Stains in top corner around the tear. Random minor grazing.

Conservation Treatment Proposed:

  • Consolidate flaking paint.
  • Reduce masking tape as safely as possible.
  • Readhere delaminating support layers along edges.
  • Reduce waxy adhesive along tear in top corner and fill/tone losses (optional).
