Current Condition of Artwork:

Backing paper is partially reduced. Support has old hinges and pressure sensitive and paper tapes on verso. Adhesive residue with attachments. Losses to the left corner edge and corners of support. Random minor accretions. Abrasions/skinning along edges. Minor delamination and cockling along edges. Creases/folds in top and left corner edges and in bottom corners. Losses, cracking, and cleavage/flaking to the female torso and purple above. Losses to the green roof, probably from Cu+ (Copper I) pigment in roof. Random minor accretions. Bleeding/blurring of text in upper right.

Conservation Treatment Proposed:

  • Consolidate flaking paint.
  • Reduce pressue sensitive tape and adhesive mechanically.
  • Readhere delaminated support layers.
  • Reinforce creases.
  • Fill losses (optional).
  • Reduce accretions (optional).
